Join Dr. Julie Emmerman for this interactive hour where you will learn the difference between healthy self assessment and unhealthy self-doubt, recognize the seductive and sometimes messy ways of self-sabotage and how to reroute your thoughts and self beliefs so you are capable of more fulfilling, effective, and successful performances. Whether you aim to compete in your first century ride, criterium, or mountain bike race, or you are a seasoned veteran, you are guaranteed to leave this presentation with new tools with which to approach the start line and (perhaps) your life. One hour with time for discussion and Q/A to follow.

ABOUT JULIE

Dr. Julie Emmerman practices Clinical and Sport Psychotherapy in Boulder. For the past 15 years, she has worked with professional and amateur athletes who seek to achieve their athletic goals as well as maintain a healthy and effective life both in and away from their sport. Part of her practice is teaching athletes specific mental techniques designed to optimize effective performance. Among her numerous professional athlete clients are men and women specializing in triathlon, ultra-endurance running and cycling, cyclocross, mountain bike and road racing. Equally important, she also helps all levels of athletes as well as non-athletes cope with a wide variety of issues such as acute and chronic anxiety, fears, depression, mTBI, injuries, illness, loss, eating and mood disorders. Between 2008 and 2010, Julie was the clinical sport psychotherapist for the Garmin-Slipstream men’s professional cycling team. More recently, she has been a consultant to Orica-Greenedge men’s cycling team staff. She also contributed her services to Team Rio Grande, a local men’s development team.
